  • You or your spouse reach age 65 or become eligible for Medicare.
  • You experience a change in family status (including divorce, your death or death of a spouse, addition of a dependent through birth, adoption, or marriage or loss of a insurance eligibility by a dependent through loss of eligibility).
  • You become eligible for Premium Assistance due to a change in legislation.
  •  A plan approved for Premium Assistance terminates or you move out of a plan’s service area.
  • You can also enroll during special “Open Enrollment” periods.

How can I reduce prescription drug costs?

Advisories:

  • Use generic drugs when possible.
  • Check mail order or different local pharmacies for best prices.
  • Check different Medicare Part D plans.
  • Check special generic purchase plans at nationwide chains.  There are different programs that sell generics as low as $4 for 30 day supply or $10 for 90 day supply.
  • Check www.parxpricefinder.com, the state’s new web site that compares drug prices for 300 of the most commonly prescribed drugs at different pharmacies that are convenient to you.   If the PA RX Price Finder pages do not link you directly to the information on drug prices, do a Google search on Pennsylvania RX price finder.
